What is Bhuna Masala?
Bhuna Masala is your secret weapon in the kitchen—a concentrated, slow-cooked blend of perfectly browned onions, fresh ginger, garlic, and tomatoes, all simmered in clean, neutral avocado oil. No added salt, no overpowering spices—just a ready-to-roll base that lets you take the flavor wheel.
Skip the chopping, peeling, and onion-tears. Just scoop, spice it your way, and toss in your favorite veggies or proteins. From cozy curries to quick stir-fries, Bhuna Masala helps you whip up delicious, healthy Indian meals in minutes.
Crafted in small batches with locally sourced ingredients and clean, seed oil-free cooking. Skip the prep, keep the soul!
Our Story
Bhuna Masala was created with one goal: to simplify and standardize Indian cooking at home. If you’ve cooked Indian food from scratch, you know the effort involved in preparing a great dish—peeling and chopping onions, ginger, garlic, tomatoes.
Cooking onions until they reach the perfect golden-brown color is a critical step in Indian cooking but one that’s frequently rushed. As Asma Khan writes in Asma's Indian Kitchen:
“Perfecting the art of caramelizing onions is an important skill for all Indian cooking; beautifully browned onions make an enormous difference to every dish you cook.”
This step alone can take 15–20 minutes of constant attention, but it brings so much sweetness and depth of flavor. Inspired by this process, we developed Bhuna Masala to give you perfectly browned onions cooked with fresh ginger, garlic, and tomatoes—ready to elevate your dishes without the labor-intensive prep.
Think of Bhuna Masala as the “marinara sauce” of Indian cooking: a trusted base that you can customize to create dishes like palak paneer, chicken curry, simple chole, or street-style pav bhaji. With Bhuna Masala, the possibilities are endless, making Indian cooking simpler, faster, and deeply satisfying.
